Differences #3: Buttons
My Dad used to call me “fingers Dan” because I liked to touch everything when I was a child - walls, door handles, and especially buttons. Too bad I am not a kid anymore now that I am in England because they love buttons.
In the picture, I show three of the most prominent.
Electrical outlets - Do the on/off switches save electricity? Not based on what I learned in physics.
Doors - Every building exit door requires a “press” to leave. This one in the picture is convenient and large. Most are the size of a dime. I love watching visitors try to leave a building and then panic when the door does not open and they think they are trapped.
And my favourite, the dual-flush loos. Here’s a little a limerick I wrote to explain the picture.
There once was an English loo
With not just one button but a few
For just a quick pee, the little one fit to a tee
But best use the big one for number two!
